Paul Douglas Van Der Walde, Founding Partner
Paul
moved to Santa Clara County in 1990 to study law at Santa Clara University.
Previously, Paul lived in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Boston, Massachusetts.
He received his Doctorate in Jurisprudence in 1993, and went into practice
as a defense attorney for a local insurance defense firm. After spending
a year watching insurance companies take advantage of plaintiffs, Paul
joined a Bay Area civil litigation practice and specialized in helping
plaintiffs in personal injury cases. He became a partner of Cornell
& Van Der Walde Law in 1995, and in 1997, Paul founded Van Der Walde
& Associates.
For nearly a decade, Paul has tried cases in Santa Clara County courtrooms, where he has become a known face to judges, attorneys and legal professionals. Unlike many attorneys in Santa Clara County, Paul isn’t looking for nationwide class action suits and multi-million-dollar settlements. At Van Der Walde & Associates, he specializes in helping normal people who’ve become victims of accidents win their cases, big or small.
Paul is actively involved in the local Santa Clara County community. He is President of the Sunnyvale-Cupertino Bar Association, a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Consumer Attorneys of California, and a part representative of the Santa Clara County Bar Association Board of Trustees. He supports the local economy as a member of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce, and is affiliated with the Silicon Valley Better Business Bureau. Paul has been listed with distinction in Who’s Who in American Law (2000), and was named Personal Injury Attorney of the Year by the Consumer Business Review (1999).
